No, not the holiday season (although it’s getting close), it’s calving season.
Calving season started a few weeks ago when the youngest members of our herd (the first time mothers) started to give birth. First time mothers tend to be more prone to complications when giving birth, so we like to watch them extra closely. In order to do this we keep this group separate from the rest of the herd and we breed them about a month earlier so that they give birth before the other cows.
In the next week or so the rest of the the herd will start to calve and these little ones will be running all of the place.
